Biography: Kayoko's family immigrated to the United States from Japan when she was ten years old. Having been so young and already began English studies prior to making her way to the US, she was able to pick up the language fairly quickly, though attempts to hide her accent have been futile.

At the age of 12, she became close friends with another student named Nina. For years, they were incredibly happy together, though at the age of 16, Nina began to show signs of severe schizophrenia. Her performance in school began to falter, until she could no longer function through the school day at all and dropped out. Kayoko often visited her friend and spent a lot of her time and effort trying to help Nina through the condition her parents would not provide enough for, consequently causing Kayoko's grades to drop, though she saw them as secondary to her friend's well being.

Unfortunately, Nina's condition only worsened, and at the age of 18 she killed herself, Kayoko just barely passing school as a result of depression from the tragedy. She sought help to overcome her friend's death, and through her own therapy was inspired to become a therapist herself in order to prevent such things from happening to anyone else. She began her studies in a community college in order to get her GPA up and then transferred to a more prestigious university, graduating with flying colors.
